Trailer Air Brake Conversions, It Can Be Done!
Did you know that to increase the GTM of your trailer in WA over 4.5T you require air operated brakes and ABS? We had a gooseneck horse float come in recently that was rated to 4.5T, but weighed in at 3.5T empty, leaving a payload of only 1T. Now putting the horses on a diet to slim them down wasn’t a viable option, so it was out with the old suspension and axles and in with the new!
Teaming up with Heavy Vehicle Certifications (WA) who are the absolute best engineers in the industry, we came up with a plan to increase the GTM to 6.6T using new suspension, axles and brakes from Rogers Willex who have a reputation for providing quality, reliable components proven to go the distance.
We had already built the customers vehicle, a beautiful GMC Sierra Denali equipped with a D’Angelo 3″ Folding Ball, a complete air brake setup including touch screen controls courtesy of ARB’s Linx platform and the required ABS interface.
The end result was a safe, reliable, compliant and robust setup to serve for many years to come!
